How Busy Moms Can Stay Organized!

You will not be able to do it all. Let’s face it you are not superwoman! No one is! But if you have a game plan it can help balance your busy life and as busy moms you can stay organized. Life gets crazy sometimes especially when you are working a full-time job. Take my life fo example, for the past 8 months I have been holding down a full-time job in Corporate America. I have a part-time job on the weekends. I manage an Airbnb apartment. I am a home and office organizer. I am a mom and engage with my 18-month-old toddler, balancing that with a social life, and finding time to hit the gym.

More and more women are returning to the workforce because they have to but it’s a challenge. A mom’s plate is always full, and I underestimated being a mom, but life can get simpler if you plan and not let things pile up. Here are some life hacks to help busy moms stay organized.

Delegate

  • Offload task that can be handled by someone else, whether that is hiring a cleaning person or hiring someone to grocery shop. It’s worth the investment and giving you time to do more of what you love. I love being in control and the minute I started delegating my stress and anxiety reduced. Use the help of your family and friends or find a college kid looking to make some extra cash. I am good at so many things, so I am always looking to trade my services for help.

Make Lists/Write it Down

  • Studies have shown that writing stuff down helps you remember more, and it helps in getting your goals accomplished. I was bad at doing this but after a while I had too many things to keep up with whether it’s remembering my orthodontics appointment or remembering to pick up paper towels. If you keep a running list, it will give you a game plan for the day and it’s easier to tackle tasks and accomplish goals.

To-do List

  • Pick up groceries
  • Schedule 18-month doctors visit
  • Stop by The Home Depot to get bulbs
  • Send a follow-up email to a friend
  • Sign up for swim class

Work through the list until it’s completed before moving on.

Have One Calendar

  • Having a calendar is life-changing. I use google calendar and I always check this before confirming anything. Managing multiple calendars can be tedious. I use this for all my appointments and business bookings. Try it, you will love it!

Prepare For the Week

  • Whether it’s meal prep or clothes prep, use a few hours each Sunday to plan for the week ahead. On Sundays you can cook a few meals and parcel them out, so they are easy to grab in the mornings. For clothes, I love to have an idea of what I plan to wear and get those ready. A lazy idea of mine that I have been getting away with for years, I buy clothes that require little to no ironing that’s my least favorite thing to do but you don’t have to buy me. Iron a few things so in the morning you just need to get ready and go. Pack your bags overnight and find that gloves if it’s a part of your outfit.

Get the Kids to Help

  • Kids can help to pitch in on the fun. My toddler is 18-months and he already helps to put his toys away, clean the house, and feed me and himself. It’s so adorable most times. Kids are never too young to learn, and they learn whatever you teach them. Make it fun but don’t expect them to keep themselves busy while you do nothing. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Learn to Say No

  • I use to think I had to say yes to everything – playdates, hanging out, all types of crazy stuff. I have a busy schedule and then reorganizing my schedule to fit in things I don’t enjoy or the worst things that make me more tired. If I know that I can’t do it, I just say no. You don’t need to give an excuse just say no. I never commit to anything unless I can do it and if you do add it to your calendar immediately.

Alison is a real trooper! She and Maxine really work hard to make other people’s living spaces organized and a refuge to come home to!

She is an expert in space management and is very compassionate in how difficult it cane be for people to let go of things they are hanging on to that they may need to let go to reduce clutter.

She is also very creative in the best ways to display and keep family heirlooms and those things people just cannot let go of because they are so dear to them, while allowing the space to achieve that open and welcoming feel. I personally truly appreciate her wonderfully creative ideas, her patience, her joy and tenacity to stick with the tasks. I am very impressed by her in every way.

She is prompt and she communicates very well with me as her client. She is also flexible and works very well with me as far as scheduling hours. I truly enjoy having her and Maxine to help me!

Wonderful blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
    Any tips? Many thanks!
